A rubber grommet holds in place through its groove — the channel that locks against both faces of the panel. When groove width does not match panel thickness, the flange lifts, the body rocks in the hole, and the seal fails. At 5mm, 8mm, 10mm panel thickness and above, this mismatch is the rule with standard grommets, not the exception.

What We Need to Custom Thick Grommets Quote
Panel thickness, hole diameter, and bore size give us the geometry. To give you an accurate quote we also need material requirement, target quantity, and any compliance or tolerance specifications. If you are not sure on material, tell us the operating environment — fluid contact, temperature range, UV exposure — and we will recommend.
A drawing covers all of this in one document. A sample works too. If you only have partial specs, send what you have and we will ask the rest.

FAQ About Thick Grommets
1. Do you stock thick grommets in standard sizes?
No. Every thick grommet we produce is molded to order. There is no catalog to choose from — you provide the panel thickness and hole diameter, we build the grommet to match and send T1 samples before production runs.
2. What is the thickest panel you can accommodate?
Groove width is a molded dimension with no fixed upper limit. We have produced grommets for panels up to 20mm and beyond. Feasibility depends on wall thickness of the grommet body itself — we confirm this at the quoting stage.
3. Can I force a standard grommet to fit a thick panel?
No. Groove width is set by the mold and cannot be stretched. Forcing a narrow-groove grommet into a thick panel lifts the flange and breaks the seal. The only correct solution is a grommet molded to your panel thickness — which is what we do.
4. How do I choose the right material?
Tell us your operating environment: fluid contact, temperature range, UV or weathering exposure, vibration load. We specify the compound. NBR for oil and fuel contact, EPDM for outdoor and weathering, FKM for extreme chemical or heat environments.
