White Rubber Grommet

White Rubber Grommet

Custom White Rubber Grommets for Clean-Look & Sensitive Applications

White rubber grommets serve the same sealing and cable-protection function as standard black grommets, but the color choice is rarely cosmetic. In most cases, white is specified for one of three reasons: the end product has a white or light-colored panel where a black grommet would be visually unacceptable; the application is medical, food-contact, or laboratory equipment where carbon-black-free materials are required; or the part needs to be color-coded for assembly identification on the production line.

Every white grommet we produce is molded to your drawing or sample — bore size, outer diameter, groove width, and hardness are all specified by you. We do not stock standard white grommets off the shelf.

Why White — and Why It Affects Material Choice

Black rubber gets its color from carbon black, which also reinforces the compound. White or light-colored rubber compounds omit carbon black, which means the base material and any added pigment determine performance. This is worth knowing before specifying:

  • White Silicone (VMQ) — the most common choice; naturally translucent/white without additives, inherently carbon-black-free, food-grade and medical-grade options available, temperature range −60°C to +200°C
  • White EPDM — good UV and weathering resistance, suitable for outdoor white panels and appliances; harder to achieve a clean white vs. silicone
  • White NR (Natural Rubber) — high elasticity, general indoor use; not suitable for oil or UV exposure
  • White NBR — available but less common; use only when oil resistance is needed alongside white color requirement
  • White Neoprene (CR) — moderate weathering and oil resistance; off-white appearance typical

If your spec just says “white rubber grommet” without a material call-out, tell us the operating environment and we will recommend the right compound. For medical or food-contact applications, confirm whether FDA compliance or specific certifications are required — silicone is usually the answer but we need to know upfront.

Common Applications of Rubber White Grommets

  • Medical Devices & Lab Equipment — carbon-black-free requirement; white silicone is standard; clean-room molding available on request
  • Home Appliances (Washing machines, Refrigerators, Dishwashers) — white panel aesthetics; EPDM or silicone depending on temperature and moisture exposure
  • Consumer Electronics — white or light-gray enclosures; silicone preferred for flexibility and color stability over time
  • Food processing Equipment — FDA-compliant white silicone; no carbon black contamination risk
  • Lighting Fixtures — white grommets at cable entry points on white housings; silicone for heat tolerance near LED drivers

Each of these has different dimensional and compliance requirements. Send us your drawing and application details — we size and specify accordingly.

What We Customize

  • Inner Bore Diameter — matched to your cable or wire OD
  • Outer Diameter and Groove Width — matched to your panel cutout and thickness
  • Shore A DHardness — typically 40–70 for white silicone; softer for better sealing compression
  • Certification Requirements — FDA, RoHS, REACH; confirm at quote stage
  • Exact White Shade — bright white vs. off-white; we match to your color reference if needed

FAQ About White Rubber Grommet

1. Are white rubber grommets food-safe or medical-grade?

They can be — but it depends on the material and how it is compounded. White silicone (VMQ) is the standard choice for food-contact and medical applications. We need to know your compliance requirement at the quoting stage so we can select the correct raw material and, if needed, provide documentation.

2. Will white rubber grommets yellow or discolor over time?

Silicone is the most color-stable option — it resists UV and heat-induced yellowing better than EPDM or NR. For outdoor or high-UV applications, silicone is strongly preferred. We can advise on stabilizer options if longevity of appearance is critical.

3. Do you make white grommets to custom sizes only?

Yes. We do not stock off-the-shelf white grommets. Every order is molded to your specified dimensions — which means your grommet fits your panel cutout without modification.
