Plastic worm gears transmit motion between perpendicular shafts with high reduction. Their helical teeth provide smooth, quiet operation, precise torque, and self-locking, ideal for compact machinery, actuators, and precision devices.
What You Can Customize
- Reduction Ratio — commonly 10:1 to 100:1 depending on lead angle and number of starts
- Lead angle / Thread Starts — single-start for high ratio and slow motion, multi-start for faster motion at lower ratio
- Material — POM (precision, self-lubricating), Nylon (wear/impact resistance), PEEK (high heat, up to 250°C)
- Bore & Shaft Interface — keyway, D-bore, or press-fit to match your shaft

Why Choose a Worm Gear？
Worm gears are the right choice when you need high reduction in a compact space and self-locking to prevent back-driving — common in actuators, valve controls, and adjustment mechanisms. Trade-off: lower efficiency (50–80%) than spur or helical gears due to sliding friction, so they’re not the right fit for continuous high-speed drive systems.
